Field On-Site Hydrostatic Pressure Acceptance Specification Updated for PVC, PP Sewer Pipeline Completion Inspection
North American water utility authorities updated the on-site hydrostatic acceptance code for gravity sewer systems, adjusting the water head pressure holding time and leakage allowable volume for buried PVC and PP drainage pipelines after construction completion, referring to the laboratory static hydraulic test benchmark of ASTM F2164. The new regulation stipulates that after pipeline backfilling, the whole section shall be filled with water for 30 minutes of constant-pressure maintenance, and the overall water seepage loss shall not exceed 0.15L per square meter of the wetted inner surface, which is consistent with the laboratory hydrostatic tightness test standard of pipe finished products.
Engineering contractors reflected that many hidden quality defects such as loose socket bonding and pipe wall tiny pinholes that cannot be found by visual inspection can be fully exposed through on-site hydrostatic pressurization. Meanwhile, the standard clearly requires that factory pre-delivery hydrostatic test records of each batch of PP, PVC sewer pipes must be filed together with the project acceptance documents, forming a closed-loop quality control system from factory laboratory static hydraulic testing to construction site pressure acceptance, effectively reducing the post-operation maintenance cost of urban underground drainage networks.
