It is used to determine the melt flow rate MFR value of various plastics and resins passing through a certain temperature and load in a viscous state through a standard die every 10 minutes. It is suitable for polycarbonates, polysulfones, fluorine materials with higher melting temperatures. Engineering plastics such as plastic and nylon are also suitable for polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), ABS resin, polyoxymethylene (POM), polycarbonate (PC) resin,PVC etc. The plastic testing is widely used in plastic production, plastic products, petrochemical and other industries, as well as relevant institutions, scientific research units and commodity inspection departments.
The melt mass-fiow rate (MFR) and the melt volume-fow rate (MVR) are determined by extruding molten material from the barrel of a plastometer under preset conditions of temperature and load. For meit mass-fow rate, timed segments of the extrudate are weighed and the extrudate rate is calculated in g/10 min and recorded. For melt volume-flow rate, the distance that the piston moves in a specified time or the time required for the piston to move a specified distance is measured to generate data in cm3/10 min. Meit volume-fow rate may be converted to melt mass-fiow rate, or vice-versa, if the density of the material is known under the conditions of the test.
